“This teaching seeks to open the way of mindfulness by showing the essence of each of the four foundations, the inner key to its practice.”
— Chögyam Trungpa

This program is for all new and senior students who are committed to meditation practice. The Buddha taught the four foundations of mindfulness as the essential first meditation practice on the path. Basic to all streams of Buddhism, these methods are essential for developing awareness of one's inner and outer reality: body, speech, mind and external phenomena.

They are often practiced according to a literal Theravadin approach, but the Vidyadhara taught a subtle version that leads directly to the mahayana and vajrayana. He calls them Mindfulness of Body, Mindfulness of Life, Mindfulness of Effort, and Mindfulness of Mind. Practicing in this way emphasizes the practitioner's direct personal experience, rather than theory or scholarship.

The program will be all day Saturday and Sunday, with commentaries and instruction, silence during the day, and open discussion each afternoon. Participants should commit to the full weekend.
