Mahamudra Werma Retreat
with Richard John
a Hybrid program (in-person at Davis Shambhala & online via zoom)
Presented by the Davis Shambhala Center
“We are talking about transforming our world altogether in order to maintain the basic notion of the drala principle.”
— The Dorje Dradul
On October 15, 1980, the Dorje Dradul wrote the “Roar of the Werma” while residing at what is now Casa Werma in Patzcuaro, Mexico. The sadhana is adapted from “The Scorpion Seal of the Golden Sun,” the final Shambhala terma he received from the expanse of wisdom.
Many are familiar with the Werma Sadhana as an expression of windhorse and enlightened society. But it is also a manifestation of the subtle wisdom of mahamudra and dzogchen, which we will explore in depth with guidance from lineage masters. These teachings emphasize the transmission of mind nature as the ground for this and all sadhana practices.
The retreat will include suchness meditation with pith instructions, sessions of Werma sadhana practice, and the stroke of ashe. We will observe silence, but also have time for talks and discussion. Participants should commit to the entire retreat, and if possible attending the weekend program will be valuable preparation for the retreat.
Prerequisites Participants must have received Werma transmission and vajrayana pointing out transmission within the Shambhala or Vajradhatu mandala.
