The Ground, Path and Fruition of the Dharma
The Buddha’s teaching exceeds the materialist limitations of Western science and worldview with its radical insights into how our minds shape our reality. He saw that while every sentient being possesses an innate brilliance and freedom, they also, due to confusion, find themselves ensnared in a cycle of pain and discomfort.
Throughout his countless teachings, the Buddha illuminated a practical path towards awakening, identifying the causes of this confusion and the causes for liberation. His message transcends cultural conditioning, remaining timeless and universally relevant.
This course is a series of 4 recorded talks given by Jakob Lesley through Ocean in Halifax earlier this year. It explores the Buddhist path, it's theoretical foundations, and practical applications. There is no pre-requisite - it is open to all. The teacher of the course, Jakob Leshley is Danish and a translator who went to India/Nepal in the early 1970s and studied with the last great meditation masters who were trained in Tibet - such as Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Tulku Uygen, the 16th Karmapa and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He is currently a teacher with the sangha of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. In these talks he often discusses Chogyam Trungpa CTR and his contributions to our understanding of dharma.
The class will meet for 8 weeks from 7-8:30 and will include listening to part of each talk in sequence followed by discussion groups.
